All On The Line
Sula -- We hope you'll join a December book club event for "One Person, No Vote" by Professor Carol Anderson. We're thrilled to be teaming up with our partner, Sister District Action Network, and welcome Professor Anderson to chat about her work.

RSVP today to join activists in your community to discuss how voter suppression impacts our democracy.

Professor Anderson is a New York Times bestselling author and is an expert on the impact of voter suppression. "One Person, No Vote" traces how millions of American voters have been disenfranchised and suppressed from the Reconstruction era to the present. Her book connects to our mission at All On The Line -- helping ensure the voices of all voters are fairly heard. We know voter suppression is such a big obstacle in the way of that goal. That's why we're excited to help spark a conversation in communities about how to address barriers facing voters.

Book clubs are taking place in communities across the country on December 17-19th. Join a book club near you!

All On The Line
We had a major setback for fairness in our electoral system this year. The Supreme Court decision to not put federal limits on partisan gerrymandering made the road to achieving fair maps harder -- and now our state-based approach is even more essential. This SCOTUS setback is why we needed to form a working group to think through tactics and strategies like engaging in the census and working with grassroots partners. And these plans are why we set a fundraising deadline for Sunday.

We are gearing up for the fight ahead -- help us raise $10,000 before our Sunday deadline. Will you make a donation?

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.

When AOTL Campaign Director Saumya Narechania was looking at our 2020 plans, he knew we needed to get a jump start on fundraising now. We have staff and volunteers on the ground in 10 target states. We have plans to train thousands of volunteers across the country. And we have a rapid response protocol in place to hold map manipulators accountable.

As we lock in our 2020 budget, Saumya set a mid-month goal of raising $10,000 by midnight on Sunday, December 15th. Here is a personalized link to direct your donation to that goal:

Thanks for your help,

Global Protest
Understanding The Wave Of Global Protest
In the wake of continued bouts of major social unrest across the globe, we have written a round-up tying together some of the underlying themes. In short, we expect global political risk will remain elevated in the foreseeable future. Unrest has been spurred in part as a reaction to weaker economic growth and/or rising income inequality, but in many countries that is combining with questions over political legitimacy (Hong Kong and Venezuela) or identity issues (Spain and Cameroon), making it harder for governments to resolve the discontent.

Trade War
Trade War Is Here To Stay
Despite some agreement between the US and China at a meeting in Washington in October, the ‘trade war’ between the two countries is far from over. Ultimately, red lines in the negotiating stances of the US and China will preclude agreement on a comprehensive trade deal between the two countries over the coming months. Meanwhile, although the US has let an investigation into EU auto tariffs lapse, we expect US-EU trade relations to remain tense in the months ahead.
Global Reform
Global Reform Tracker
Our quarterly EM reform tracker highlights that reform momentum has slowed across many EMs in the wake of the more challenging economic dynamics and elevated political unrest outlined above. This is most notable in Latin America, but major Asian economies like China and India have also seen their reform scores revised down in the last quarter. This will have significant negative ramifications for investment and long-term growth prospects. For a deeper dive, take a look at our region specific analysis.
